STUDENT SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITIES

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM COORDINATOR
(9 WEEKS: June 24 – August 24, 2019)

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM ASSISTANT
(8 WEEKS: July 2 – August 24, 2019)

Status: 30 hours per week
Salary: $16.50 per hour

The Pemberton Canoe Association is looking for two individuals to develop and implement “Canoe Kids” and “Regatta Ready” paddling day camp programs for Pemberton and area youth. The programs will be located at One Mile Lake in Pemberton. The club is interested in hiring motivated individuals keen to develop our canoe and kayak program. The jobs will generally be five days a week, however they may include some weekend work.

Responsibilities:
• Work cooperatively with the flatwater head coach to design and implement programs based around the Canoe Kayak Canada’s “Canoe Kids” and “Regatta Ready” programs
• advertise, promote, and recruit for the programs through posters, flyers, newspaper articles, and social media
• teach dragon boat, outrigger, and canoe and kayak flat-water and white-water paddling skills, steering skills, and safety practices
• ensure that all the proper registration and forms have been completed by camp registrants

Qualifications:
• These job positions have been made available through the Canada Summer Jobs grant program so interested applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Paddling experience in dragon boat, outrigger, flat-water, and white-water boats
• Canoe Kids Instructor course

Assets:
• Ability to utilize graphic design software to produce posters
• Past experience with coaching youth sport
• Past experience with recreational program design
• Knowledge of flatwater, dragon boat, and outrigger canoe paddling
• Strong swimmer and paddler with ability to rescue paddlers if required
• First aid training
• Lifeguard training
